Australia also has the Central Lowlands. New Zealand doesn't have lowlands. Australia has one major plateau, the Nullarbor Plain. New Zealand has a plateau in the center of the island.
     2. Many of the islands in Oceania were formed by volcanoes. Some volcanoes erupted and their lava formed the island. Other underwater volcanoes had coral grow on them and islands formed from that. Continental islands formed from ancient rock folding up from the movement of tectonic plates and forming islands.

Chapter 31 homework

CH 31 Section 1:
     1. Rice farming is the most important agricutural activity because Southeast Asia is so suited to growing rice. It has the perfect climate and land for rice-growing. Rice is a major export in Southeast Asia.

Creative Writing: The countries in Southeast Asia have gotten more interdependent because they don't want foreign investment, which can cause debt or other economic problems. Foreign countries have pulled out their money from the Southeast Asian countries and caused serious economic problems. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations has been formed to promote development, trade, and economic stability in the region.

CH 31 Section 2:
     1. Volcanoes can destroy many houses and other buildings, and have a negative impact on the air quality because of all the ash that is released. Floods can also destroy many buildings and kill many people. Floods also can ruin a year's worth of crops. Parts of Bangok sink every year because of seasonal flooding. Typhoons can also wreck crops and property.
     2. Economic growth is depleting natural resources. This makes these countries even more vulnerable
to environmental disasters like floods and typhoons because the forests aren't there to stop water. There is also pollution in the lakes because of poor toxic waste disposal.

Creative Writing: The most important challenge is deforestation. Because there is not enough protection from typhoons and floods, deforestation is costing millions of lives. Limits need to be set on farmers and they need to be required to replant the trees that they cut down.

I just got a job working at a computer company, it is not to my liking, but I get paid well. Here in the city everyone is always on the move and nobody has time to sit down for five minutes and relax. On top of that the air is thick with disgusting smog. I don't know how long I will make it here...

It would also lengthen the average lifespan of the citizens of those countries in need.
